Further expansion of our GLP-1 portfolio: Anti-GLP-1 (Non-amidated (-Arg-Gly) C-terminal specific) antibody

June 10 2009  by Ana Belén Enfedaque Buisán

BioPorto Diagnostics is pleased to announce the launch of a new monoclonal antibody ABS 046-03. The new antibody ABS 046-03 recognizes the C-terminus of non-amidated (-Arg-Gly) GLP-1 and shows a low level of cross-reactivity with C-terminally amidated GLP-1.

The active forms of GLP-1 are potent stimulators of glucose-dependent insulin secretion and GLP-1 receptor agonists are strong drug candidates for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. BioPorto Diagnostics’ GLP-1 antibody portfolio provides useful tools for physiological and pharmaceutical research into the therapy of type 2 diabetes, and, as GLP-1 is also involved in the regulation of food intake, in developing treatments for obesity.

The launch of this new antibody brings BioPorto Diagnostics a step closer to being able to offer a complete GLP-1 antibody portfolio, which currently includes unique antibodies for several different GLP-1 forms and related targets such as Exendin-4.

BioPorto Diagnostics is launching this antibody as a part of the AntibodyShop portfolio and expects to expand the GLP-1 group of antibodies even further in the future.
