May 12 2009  by Ana Belén Enfedaque Buisán

The European Renal Association - European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) and the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) join forces once more to organize the World Congress of Nephrology 2009 connecting renal professionals from around the world in order to share insights, create new approaches to research and therapy and advance global nephrology in general.

With over 450 speakers from more than 35 countries, the congress, which will be held in Hall 5 at Fiera Milano Congressi, combines the presentation of cutting edge research with a broad overview of the currently most relevant fields in the prevention, detection and treatment of kidney disease:

• CKD – epidemiology and consequences

• Aetiology and pathogenesis of kidney disease, clinical nephrology

• Hypertension and vascular disease

• Acute kidney injury

• Renal failure and dialysis

• Transplantation

A focus product for BioPorto Diagnostics is the renal biomarker NGAL, the leading biomarker for diagnosis of acute kidney injury (AKI). The early diagnosis of AKI is important, as it is associated with a high mortallity and and up to 50% of patients in intensive care may suffer some degree of acute kidney injury. NGAL determination is also highly relevant in nephrotoxicity and kidney transplantation. The NGAL product line from BioPorto Diagnostics includes ELISA kits for research and in vitro diagnostics as well as a wide selection of reagents for use in animal models which includes antibodies against human, mouse, rat, monkey, dog NGAL and the latest new addition of antibodies against pig NGAL.

Jakob Ohm Eriksen, NGAL pharma (clinical and preclinical) Product Manager and Klaus Boberg Pedersen, Human diagnostics (NGAL and MBL) Product Manager, will welcome you at booth no. A16. For more information or setting up an appointment, please contact them at joe@bioporto.com and kbp@bioporto.com respectively.
